Sighting In and Patterning
Must watch courses for beginner and intermediate turkey hunters.
Part of knowing whether our equipment is capable of doing the job we need it to is testing it before we take it to the woods hunting. Our turkey hunting shotguns are no different. As ethical sportsmen and women, we owe it to the animal we are hunting (and to ourselves) to know how our equipment performs.
The only way to know this information is to test it, specifically our guns, at the range.
We need to know exactly how our gun performs with our specific choke and our specific ammo at 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, and 60 yards – Yes! Some of today’s ammo/choke/gun combinations can make consistent, effective, and humane kill shots at 60 yards and farther.
But the bottom line is that we need to know how our equipment performs so we can make a reasonable determination as to whether or not a turkey is standing within the effective range of our equipment so we can make that humane shot.
These courses show you how different hunters pattern their ammo, guns, and chokes at the range and how the determine what an effective range is for their turkey guns.
